Hidden Treasure!

I can't think of a better name for this old vintage store way up in the hills and winding roads of Topanga Canyon. I first came here many years ago, as it just so happens that one of my favourite restaurants is  around the corner, so every time I pass this place, I have to go in for a good old rummage ( which can turn into hours so be careful who you choose to go with, husbands & small children not advised).

Halloween is coming up,  so a lot of the really pretty things had been taken out of the store and replaced with the craziest costumes you can imagine.  Dr Who could dress an entire cast of other worldly creatures not yet known to man from this lot!
The last time I was in this store, Julia Roberts was in here,  I had no idea who her husband was and thought he worked there, so asked him the price of something, he looked at me very strangely, so I looked back at him rather strangely as I am shoving a vintage corset under his nose, then all of a sudden, I see Julia Roberts heading towards us both and calling him honey, oh no, I then  realise who he is,  so I ran round the corner to get out of their way as I felt rather embarrassed and decided not bother with the corset in the end!
I run straight for the sparkles!

Lovely colours

yet another tiny hat but look at that lampshade behind me!

The dress I am wearing is one I have had for years and  also one of my favourites, its a beautiful lace 1920's and the bag I made from an old curtain, more lace & flowers

You can't miss this shop from the outside!

Hidden Treasures indeed!

Shutters On The Beach

We had a lovely day in Santa Monica, where one of my favourite hotels sits perfectly on the beach.  I was lucky enough to spend 10 days here in July, so thought I would pop back for a spot of lunch in the ocean view restaurant, Coast.
That wonderful golden Californian sunshine,  the long grass softens the contrast between the building and the sandy beach creating a feeling of relaxation as the sea breeze gently sways its way through.

I love the classic Cape Cod style, with the stars & stripes flag in situ, the way the sun bounces off the painted wood, its hard not to feel happy in these surroundings,  the perfect beach hotel.

Coast one of my favourite places for lunch

I guess its not very fashionable to sit in the sun anymore!

For some reason a few of my pictures wouldn't download so this all I have at the moment,  I will leave you with the link for Shutters website, enjoy!

Melrose & Vintage Dresses

Had a great day on Melrose, the home of vintage shopping and found the prettiest dress for Harley.
I love these soft colours and lace sleeves, luckily it was a perfect fit for her , that always amazes me, when you can pull a dress of the rails and it fits like a glove, expert eyes!

Harleymoon the perfect vintage hippy chic!

A large chocolate Missoni hat works really well with the soft textures of the dress

I added some pale pink vintage roses onto the belt as a finishing touch.

LA Flea Market

My first day in LA is a Sunday and that means one thing...  Flea market day, so I headed to the nearest market which is on Melrose & Fairfax.
This is quite a small market, so it doesn't take long to get  round but it has a good selection of vintage and many curiosities, I wish I had a lorry because I could have filled it!

I had to stop by this sign!

There is a great selection of shabby chic furniture.

This is one of my favourite stalls, Jazmin Collection By Elizabeth, the hand painted furniture is so pretty, I bought an amazing skirt  from her, all very girly and romantic.

I love these colours

Priory Farm Shop

My friends Nic & Sam own an amazing farm in Redhill (Surrey) its such a treat to have a day out there, as there is so much to do. We spent a sunny September afternoon with them and after a wonderful lunch had a long country walk around the farm.
Sam is very lucky, she only has to open her back door and she is in the farms own grocery store, with fresh veg, breads, meats, cheeses and even a gift shop, all on her very own door step! Please click on the images to enhance
